This role is focused on the design, integration, and commissioning of electrical power systems for solar PV and industrial energy applications. You will take ownership of electrical system design activities including power distribution, system sizing, single-line development, and field commissioning support. You will work closely with fabrication, mechanical, and project teams to ensure designs are practical, code-compliant, and successfully executed from engineering through to installation. This is a hands-on engineering role that bridges design and field execution in a technically driven setting where precision, accountability, and continuous improvement are critical. Embedded software and device-level control systems are handled by the software engineering team. What You’ll Enjoy · Working in a dynamic environment where no two days are the same, with opportunities to contribute across a variety of projects and initiatives · Collaborating with experienced professionals who value innovation, knowledge sharing, and achieving meaningful results together · Growing your career within a company that supports long-term development, continuous learning, and internal growth opportunities · Contributing to forward-thinking initiatives where creativity, adaptability, and a willingness to learn are highly valued Why This Opportunity Stands Out · Supportive and collaborative leadership · Opportunities to contribute ideas and process improvements · Professional growth and development opportunities · Work on projects with global reach and impact · Advanced Research and Development initiatives · Inclusive and team-oriented culture · Competitive compensation and benefits What You’ll Be Doing · Design electrical systems for solar PV projects, including array layouts, inverter systems, and energy storage integration · Develop single-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, and technical construction documentation · Perform load calculations, system sizing, voltage drop analysis, and energy yield modelling · Support electrical system optimization using appropriate engineering tools and software · Provide technical oversight during installation of solar PV systems · Work closely with electricians and installation crews to ensure work is completed according to design specifications and applicable codes · Provide on-site troubleshooting and engineering support during construction activities · Support commissioning, testing, and performance verification of solar PV systems · Assist with installation activities when required to support field execution and resolve technical challenges · Ensure compliance with the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC), CSA standards, and applicable utility interconnection requirements · Collaborate with project managers, electricians, civil engineers, and contractors to ensure successful project delivery from design through commissioning What You Bring Required Qualifications · Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering · Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) or Professional Licensee in Alberta · 5+ years of electrical engineering experience, preferably with exposure to solar PV systems or renewable energy projects · Strong understanding of electrical power systems and construction practices · Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines within a fast-paced and cross-functional environment · Strong communication skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team · Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word and Excel · Valid driver’s license · Fluent in English Preferred Qualifications · Experience with solar PV system design, commissioning, or field execution strongly considered an asset · Familiarity with engineering tools such as AutoCAD, PVsyst, or similar software · Exposure to working alongside electricians or construction crews in an engineering capacity · PV-specific training or certifications (e.g., NABCEP or equivalent) considered an asset · Experience supporting projects through fabrication, installation, or field revisions is considered an asset Work Environment · Full-time, Monday to Friday position · Combination of office-based engineering work and active shop-floor involvement · Occasional site visits required for installation, commissioning, or troubleshooting support · Shop-based environment located in Acheson, AB · Candidates must be local to the Edmonton/Acheson area, as travel assistance, living out allowance, and relocation support are not available at this time About Us At Pathfinder Renewables Inc., innovation, precision, and operational excellence drive everything we do.
