The Job The Town of Edson is seeking an Equipment Operator to support a broad range of municipal services including roads, water, sewer, storm systems, waste services, and cemetery operations. This is a hands-on role that involves operating equipment, performing general labour, and ensuring services are delivered efficiently and safely. Safety is a core part of this position. You will follow established safe work practices, participate in workplace inspections, help identify hazards, and report any safety concerns promptly. You will work both independently and as part of a team, contributing to a strong and reliable operations environment. Compensation The wage range for this position is $29.02 - $34.98, per hour as per the terms of the CUPE Collective Agreement. Job Description Position Duties: · Complete assigned tasks in road, water, sewer, storm, waste (residential and solid) and cemetery functions in a competent, efficient and safe manner. · Operate light equipment including but not limited to mowers, tractors, skid steer loader, air compressor, aerial manlift, compaction equipment, light and medium duty trucks, and any other light equipment used for operational purposes. · Daily maintenance of equipment as per procedures manual(s). · Attend position related seminars/courses as directed by the Supervisor. · Perform general labourer duties. · Actively participate in Formal Workplace Inspections in area of responsibility · Review pertinent Hazard Identification, Assessment and Control worksheets on an annual basis as required by the Municipal Health and Safety Program · Follow all Safe Work Practices and Procedures · Immediately report any unsafe conditions, potential work hazards or incidents to Supervisor · Performs other duties as directed by the supervisor. Position Requirements: · Grade Twelve Diploma or equivalent. · Hold a valid Alberta Class 3 Driver’s License. · Demonstrate the ability to operate and maintain listed equipment in a safe and responsible manner. · Have physical strength, agility and co-ordination sufficient to perform job tasks. · Perform work with limited supervision.
