Job Title: Senior Data Architect Client: Government of Alberta Project: OneData Alberta Program & Crosswalk Duration: 12 Months (Possible Extension) Location: Alberta, Canada /Remote Job Description: The Government of Alberta is seeking an experienced Senior Data Architect to support the OneData Alberta and Crosswalk initiatives within the Data Centre of Excellence (DCoE). The role will provide strategic architectural leadership for enterprise data modernization initiatives leveraging Data Fabric/Data Mesh frameworks across cloud and on-premise environments. The ideal candidate will have robust expertise in enterprise data architecture, data integration, AI-enabled data solutions, and modern cloud-based data platforms including Snowflake, Microsoft Azure, and Cloudera. Key Responsibilities: • Lead enterprise data architecture, data modeling, metadata standards, and data quality framework initiatives • Design scalable and secure data solutions supporting analytics, AI, and interoperable enterprise data assets • Support schema analysis, data profiling, and crosswalk/data linkage frameworks • Architect reusable data products and modern data platform solutions • Collaborate with stakeholders, technical teams, and leadership for approvals, sign-offs, and delivery coordination • Develop architecture artifacts, proof-of-concepts, and technical recommendations • Support AI-enabled and advanced analytics initiatives across enterprise platforms • Manage risks, action items, reporting, and project deliverables • Mentor teams and promote innovation, data governance, and client-focused delivery practices Required Qualifications: • Degree/Diploma in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field • 5+ years of experience in enterprise data architecture and data integration • 5+ years of experience with cloud and big data platforms such as Snowflake, Azure, or Cloudera • Strong experience in data modeling, enterprise architecture, and scalable data product design • Experience with AI-enabled data platforms, analytics, and machine learning architectures • Hands-on experience with data governance, security, privacy controls, and secure data sharing frameworks • Excellent stakeholder communication, workshop facilitation, and leadership skills Preferred Qualifications: • Experience working within public sector/government environments • Experience with TOGAF or other enterprise architecture frameworks • Experience implementing Responsible AI principles and AI-driven data solutions • Strong background in data strategy, governance, semantic layers, and integration architectures If interested, please share your updated resume along with contact details and availability.
