Job Description CIMA+’s Energy & Resources team is a key player in the energy transition. We support clients at all stages of projects, from feasibility studies to commissioning. The position is Transmission Lines Civil Designer. You will work with the T&D; Lines Leadership Team on some of Canada’s largest infrastructure projects. Primary Responsibilities Develop protected engineering solutions through design, problem analysis, and interpreting specifications for medium complexity utilities projects. Assist project/operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and schedule targets by proposing plan changes, recommending contractor payments, preparing progress reports, and coordinating work schedules. Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems through independent studies, analysis, and judgment. Contribute to CIMA+’s engineering practices by conducting studies, developing technical standards, and providing guidance to other engineers. Deliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients, establishing design criteria, approving technical documentation, and reporting progress against standards and objectives. Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages from 60 kV to 500 kV. Prepare project documentation such as reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis, and test plans. Develop design work packages, manage design tasks, and oversee scope, schedule, and cost for existing and new facilities. Provide signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record per EGBC and CIMA+’s practices. Offer technical assistance, construction support, and field reviews as required. Perform structural design, analysis, and detailing for structures associated with transmission underground and submarine cables. Apply loads, design criteria, seismic analysis, and consider associated civil, mechanical, and electrical systems such as foundations, lightning protection, conductors, and hardware. Qualifications University degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in transmission projects. Proficient in design/analysis software and CAD systems with familiarity of drawing standards. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Excellent written and verbal communication in English. Experience in design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost control.
