Position Summary: The Accounting Assistant will primarily support the accounting department with data entry and administrative tasks, helping maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records. This is a full-time remote position. Primary Responsibilities: - Ensures timely and accurate processing of accounts payable; receives, verifies, and posts accounts payable invoices into QuickBooks. - Receives credit card receipts and reconciles against corporate credit cards on a monthly basis. - Maintains accounting department files and records. - Support the accounting team with various administrative duties. - Balances account spreadsheets; matches and defines discrepancies between payments and amounts billed in system and reconcile accounts as needed. - Assists with month-end close and run monthly reports as required. - Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed; totals accounts to ledgers or computer spreadsheets and databases. - Maintain confidentiality of all financial and employee data. - Other duties as assigned for the successful operations of the organization. Education / Experience Requirements and Qualifications - Six months to one-year related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. - One-year certificate from college or technical school preferred. Competencies: - Knowledge of basic bookkeeping procedures. - Good math skills and the ability to spot numerical errors. - Strong computer skills. - Hands-on experience with MS Excel and accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks). - Ability to manage priorities and workflow. - Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing priorities with enthusiasm. - Strong attention to detail and accuracy. - Proficient in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel and comfortable with data entry. - Exceptional organizational and time management skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. - Proficiency in English (oral and written) Work Workplace / Physical Demands: - Home-based office position with working conditions suitable and conducive to an efficient working environment. - Appropriate availability consistent with established practices and norms; effort may exceed 40 hours per week when required to meet critical deadlines. - Ability to sit and/or stand to work at a computer for extended periods of time.
