Assistant Director – Child Care Centre We are seeking a passionate, organized, and dedicated Assistant Director to join our childcare leadership team. The ideal candidate will support the daily operations of the centre while helping create a nurturing, engaging, and safe environment for children, families, and staff. The Assistant Director will work closely with the Centre Director to ensure compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing regulations, support staff development, oversee classroom operations, and maintain high-quality programming for children. This role requires strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills, along with a solid background in early childhood education. Candidates with leadership experience, bilingual abilities (English/French), and experience supporting children with diverse needs are highly encouraged to apply. Responsibilities Assist the Centre Director with the daily operations of the childcare centre Ensure compliance with Alberta Child Care Licensing regulations, policies, and procedures Support and supervise educators and staff to maintain a positive and professional work environment Assist with staff scheduling, onboarding, orientation, and performance management Support classroom management and ensure developmentally appropriate programming is implemented Foster a protected, inclusive, and welcoming environment for children and families Communicate effectively with parents regarding children’s progress, behaviours, and centre updates Assist with enrolment, attendance tracking, administrative duties, and record keeping Collaborate with educators and families to support children with diverse learning or developmental needsHelp maintain health, safety, and cleanliness standards throughout the centre Utilize computer systems for documentation, communication, scheduling, and reporting Support both daycare and Out of School Care (OSC) operations where applicable Qualifications Diploma or Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field Minimum ECE Level 2 or 3 Certification (or Alberta-recognized equivalent) Previous childcare supervisory or leadership experience preferred Valid Child Care First Aid & CPR Certification Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search Strong knowledge of child development and early childhood education best practices Knowledge of Alberta Child Care Licensing regulations Excellent communication, organizational, and leadership skills Ability to work collaboratively with children, families, and staff from diverse backgrounds Experience supporting children with additional needs or disabilities is considered an asset Bilingual proficiency in English and French is an asset Strong computer and administrative skills Skills & Attributes Leadership and team-building abilities Strong time management and organizational skills Positive attitude and professional work ethic Ability to multitask in a quick-paced childcare environment Commitment to providing high‑quality care and education for children Benefits Employee assistance program In office parking Paid time off Job Types: Full-time, Part-time Pay: $15.00-$25.00 per hour Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week Work Location: In person #J-18808-Ljbffr Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2petnb
