The YCP Supervisor oversees and coordinates prevention programs and initiatives to address social issues within the Piikani Nation. This role involves developing, implementing, and evaluating strategies to prevent various challenges, including substance abuse, violence, mental health issues, and intergenerational trauma. The YCP Supervisor will lead the Prevention team, and collaborate with Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Nation Members, and other professionals to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes Indigenous individuals' and families' well-being and resilience. Duties Perform Prevention staff duties according to PCFS policies and procedures in a highly confidential and professional manner. To develop and design preventative and supportive programs geared to help families reach their maximum potential of healthy functioning through the promotion of child development, parenting, safety planning, healthy relationships, healthy living, home management, self-esteem building, self-care, healing from grief & loss, and other issues facing families. To coordinate family outings based on land, culture, education, recreational teachings. To develop after-school programs, in-school programs, and other programs geared to children and youth. Implementation of Blackfoot culture into all programming. Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed to meet the evolving needs of the community. Facilitate group presentations based on trends in clients’ needs. Identify and establish partnerships with relevant community resources, service providers and agencies. Schedule and attend meetings and appointments with community providers to create a network of support and community collaborations. Provide supportive programming to clients, including advocacy, referral, transportation, and mentoring. Collect and enter data to track participant and program success. Complete appropriate paperwork for program reporting and interoffice communication. Participate in weekly staff meetings with the prevention team to evaluate participant and program progress, needs, success, and opportunities for improvement. Prepare workplans and budget submission with performance evaluation for all programs, events, workshops. Creation of monthly reports to be submitted to the Prevention Manager. Provide transportation and accommodation/meals (if needed) for parents/guardians to attend non-medical (e.g. parenting classes) and medical services or appointments as identified. Other duties as assigned. Team Leadership and Supervision Provide leadership, guidance, and supervision to the Prevention Team, including training, support and performance evaluation. Foster a positive and inclusive work environment, promoting teamwork, collaboration and cultural safety. Ensure effective communication and coordination among team members, stakeholders, and community partners. Community Engagement Build solid relationships with Piikani Nation members, organizations, and stakeholders to understand their needs, concerns and aspirations. Advocate for community needs and interests, representing Piikani Child and Family Services in various forums and meetings. Collaborate with Knowledge Keepers and elders to ensure cultural appropriateness and respect in all Prevention Activities and Events. Collaboration with Nation and non-Nation organizations, departments, and entities for community programs, conferences, workshops, training and events Overseeing Parenting/Guardian Education Programs. Respite Care for programs. Youth Programs, Events, Workshops. Homemaker and parent/guardian aid services. Mentoring services for children and parents. Home Management (e.g., budgeting, financial literacy, menu planning, directing families toward appropriate services). Cultural, recreational and other activity-related needs for children still living at home. Transportation needs of families enrolled in the program. Family connection programs, parenting education, pre-natal/post-natal education. Non-medical counselling services. Qualifications and Experience Social Work Degree, Early Childhood Education Diploma or equivalent (Human Services Diploma/Certificate) Social Work Diploma, other related education will be considered Must have an understanding of community resources in Piikani and surrounding areas Interest and engagement in delivery of services to the Piikani community Blackfoot language and culture knowledge is preferred Minimum of two years’ experience in the human services field Experience in developing and facilitating programs Knowledge of resources in early childhood and parenting programs is desired Excellent organizational, and time management skills. Must be able to work evenings and weekends. Expected to maintain strict confidentiality. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal. Display kindness, compassion and empathy to families. Must provide up to date Driver’s Abstract, Criminal Record Check and Child Intervention Check. Working Conditions The position is a 1 year full time contract that may be renewed depending on funding and performance in the role. Salary range for the position is $70,000/- to 80,000/-. Most job duties involve programming in the community with travel within Alberta and outdoor events. Working hours are 8am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, however weekend and evening work is required on a consistent basis. Start Date: As soon as possible.
