Posting Details Position Information Job Title Term Certain Instructors - Justice Studies - Policing and Conservation Enforcement Appointment Type Temporary Position Dates August 1, 2026 - May 31, 2027 Hours per week/FTE 35 hours per week About the Position The Lethbridge Polytechnic’s School of Justice Studies is seeking applications for two (2) term certain instructors in the School of Justice Studies. One (1) position will be assigned to the Criminal Justice-Policing Diploma program and one (1) position will be in the Conservation Enforcement degree and Natural Resource Compliance diploma programs; however, teaching assignments may be across the Centre for Justice and Human Services. We are seeking an instructor who is passionate about teaching and dedicated to supporting students in their educational journey. As a member of the school instructional team, faculty participate in a collaborative teaching environment, and may instruct online courses. Faculty are responsible for curriculum development, all assessments, supporting student recruitment, student retention, participation in program and college level committees, and are encouraged to participate in applied research. Position Details Criminal Justice – Policing The individual will have a strong, extensive background in a diverse range of leading edge policing practices with the ability to bring this information to the classroom. The successful applicant will be able to instruct a variety of specialized courses (Law, Career, Investigative Techniques, Specialized Policing, Crisis and De-escalation) in the program as well as other courses across the School of Justice Studies. Conservation Enforcement The individual will have a solid, extensive background in conservation enforcement with the ability to bring this information to the classroom. The successful applicant will be able to instruct a variety of specialized courses (Operational Procedures, Field Investigations, Parks and Recreation Operations, Environmental Investigations, Law, Career) in the program as well as other courses across the School of Justice Studies. Candidates selected for interviews will be required to present a mini lesson on a policing or conservation enforcement related topic as part of the interview process. Required Qualifications General Position Requirements A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline is required. A minimum of 10 years’ recent experience in the field of policing or conservation enforcement is required. Previous instructional experience in a post-secondary setting or involved with agency training planning and delivery. Specific Position Requirements Criminal Justice – Policing Experience with a specialty investigative unit(s) is required Experience with complex investigations including trials is required. Conservation Enforcement Significant experience with complex prosecutions of resource files including trials is required Preferred Qualifications General Preferred Qualifications Masters Degree in a related field (completed or in progress) Excellent organizational and communication skills and comfortable with technology in the classroom. Experience which reflects varied and increasing levels of responsibility is beneficial. Specific Preferred Qualifications Criminal Justice – Policing Experience developing training curriculum. Conservation Enforcement Experience working in an enforcement role in a provincial or national park. Experience working with Indigenous resource law.
