Senior Accountant (St. Albert) (Alberta)

Sr. Accountant – Overview Sr. Accountant to support the financial operations of Poundmaker’s Lodge Treatment Centres, a non-profit organization focused on Indigenous holistic addiction treatment. Responsibilities Prep budget and perform variance analysis according to funder requirements. Perform daily, month-end and year-end accounting activities. Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors, funders, and regulatory bodies; support external audits by preparing fixed asset schedules, reconciliation support, and other reports. Evaluate expenditures to ensure proper capitalization versus expense in accordance with GAAP and internal policies. Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, petty cash, payroll entries, and general ledger processes. Conduct bank and credit card reconciliations monthly. Process accruals, deferrals, review ledgers and aged reports, and monitor Income Statement & Balance Sheet accounts, and provide necessary adjusting and journal entries. Reconcile vendor statements, resolve discrepancies, and maintain up-to-date records. Provide financial guidance and support to senior leadership and program managers to inform decision-making. Other duties may include charity annual return filing, pension & benefits reports, etc. Qualifications CPA designation completed or working towards CPA completion. 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.
