Description
Primary Responsibilities Develop safe engineering solutions through design, problem analysis, and interpreting specifications for medium complexity utilities projects. Assist project/operations management in meeting safety, cost, quality, and schedule targets by proposing plan changes, recommending contractor payments, preparing progress reports, and coordinating work schedules. Resolve highly technical and unusual design and field engineering problems through independent studies, analysis, exercising judgment in information selection, and recommending protected engineering designs. Contribute to CIMA+'s engineering practices by conducting studies, developing technical standards, exercising judgment in information evaluation, recommending designs, and providing guidance to other engineers. Deliver exceptional customer service by defining engineering scope with clients, establishing design criteria, approving technical documentation, and assessing/reporting progress against standards and objectives for safe, quality, budget‑compliant, and timely project completion. Design overhead line structures and associated facilities for voltages from 60kV to 500kV in an electric utility setting. Prepare project documentation such as reports, specifications, proposals, estimates, design basis, and test plans per CIMA+'s practices. Develop design work packages with scope, duration, and effort estimates, and manage design tasks including scope, schedule, and cost for existing and current facilities. Provide signed/sealed engineering deliverables as a Professional of Record per EGBC and CIMA+'s practices. Offer technical assistance, construction support, and field reviews as required. Perform structural design, analysis, and detailing for structures associated with transmission underground cables (including potheads, concrete vaults, cable duct banks) and transmission submarine cables (including terminations and potheads). Apply loads, design criteria, seismic analysis per regulatory and industry standards, considering associated civil, mechanical, electrical systems such as foundations, lightning protection, conductors, and hardware. Qualifications University Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or equivalent experience. Minimum of five (5) years of experience and a history of working in Transmission projects. Proficient in design/analysis software and CAD systems, along with familiarity of drawing standards. Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint). Excellent communication abilities in English – written and verbal. Experience in design tasks including scope, schedule and cost control.
