Position Overview Probationary/Continuing Full‑time (1.0 FTE) teaching position at Ecole Meridian Heights School in Stony Plain, Alberta. The successful applicant will teach Grade 8 Math and Science, as well as Grade 6 English Language Arts and Math. Responsibilities Design, deliver, and assess instructional programs that support students’ academic, social, emotional, and personal development. Integrate students into typical classroom settings and support transitions. Provide differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all learners, including those with special needs. Collaborate with school staff, support teams, and community agencies to enhance student learning outcomes. Maintain supervision, monitoring, and behavior management strategies in accordance with school policies. Support families in addressing learning‑related needs and maintain clear communication. Develop and sustain routines, expectations, and a positive learning setting. Apply technology and experiential learning opportunities to enrich instruction. Manage classroom resources and facilitate student leadership opportunities. Provide supervision for field trips, physical activities, and special programs. Qualifications Bachelor of Education Degree (or equivalent). Experience teaching Grades 6 and 8 is an asset. Experience with differentiated instruction is an asset. Training or certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention and First Aid is an asset. Knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit perspectives is required. Equivalencies may be considered. Skills and Attitudes Strong oral and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal and teamwork abilities. Ability to take direction and work independently. Flexibility, patience, sensitivity, tolerance, enthusiasm, creativity, and imagination. Capacity to manage emotional and mental stress in a school setting. Knowledge of special needs disorders, English as a second language, behavior management, and crisis prevention is an asset. Working Conditions Incomplete daily duties include indoors classroom instruction, occasional outdoor supervision, and field trips. The role follows a ten‑month schedule with a long summer break, and hours are determined by the specific position.
