Partner Staffing on behalf of our Client, we are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Substation Civil Engineer to join our Calgary-based team. This role involves leading the civil and structural design of high-voltage substation projects (69kV to 500kV), including site grading, foundations, structural steel, and control building design. The ideal candidate will have deep technical knowledge, strong leadership abilities, and a proven record of delivering high-quality designs on time and within budget. Requirements KeyResponsibilities: Lead the civil/structural engineering design for substation projects from conceptual design through construction. Prepare and review detailed engineering drawings, calculations, and specifications related to: Structural steel supports and equipment structures Site grading, drainage, and access roads Collaborate closely with electrical, protection & control, and geotechnical engineers to ensure interdisciplinary alignment. Perform site assessments and support construction through RFIs, field reviews, and issueresolution. Coordinate with clients, utilities, contractors, and regulatory bodies throughout all project phases. Mentor and provide technical oversight to junior engineers and designers. Ensure compliance with applicable codes (CSA, ACI, NBC, etc.), standards, and client specifications. Contribute to project schedules, budgets, and proposals as a senior technical lead. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering; Master’s degree is an asset. Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or eligible for registration with APEGA. Minimum 7 years of experience in civil/structural design for high-voltage substations or related infrastructure projects. Proficient in relevant engineering software (e.g., STAAD, RISA, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Mathcad, Revit is an asset). Strong knowledge of Canadian codes and standards (e.g., CSA C22.3 No.1, A23.3, S16, NBC). Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and lead teams in a fast-paced environment.
