Regular Part Time Educational Assistant (Dapp) (Slave Lake)

Pembina Hills School Division invites applications for the position of a Regular Part Time (17.5 hours per week) Educational Assistant based out of Pembina North Community School. Pembina Hills School Division provides education to approximately 3,400 students in 15 community schools in north central Alberta. PHSD also provides education to over 10,000 students from within and beyond our borders, through our online school, Vista Virtual School. Pembina North Community School is located 26 km north of Westlock, and 81 km northwest of St. Albert in the Town of Dapp. The Kindergarten to Grade 9 School operates under the purpose statement, "United We Achieve Excellence". There are inherent risks in the work employees do throughout Pembina Hills School Division. All staff are to be prepared to manage the inherent risks encountered in their work. Staff are expected to cooperate in ensuring workplace health and safety. Position The successful candidate must be a self‑directed team player who is interested in providing support and encouragement to students with complex needs in a kindergarten classroom. Hours of work will be Tuesdays and Thursday, with some Fridays at 7 hours per day following the school calendar. This school follows an alternate calendar. Duties commence August 27, 2026 and will end June 28, 2027. Qualifications Experience supporting students with behavior difficulties. Experience supporting students with developmental delays. Preference will be given to applicants with an understanding of childhood development. Experience supporting learners with early literacy and numeracy skills. An explicit understanding of the roles and responsibilities of a program assistant. Valuable at building a rapport and presenting a non‑judgmental attitude. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a school team in an inclusive environment. A positive addition to our instructional team. Enthusiastic and motivated to help students succeed. SIVA Training would be an asset; First aid would be an asset.
