Mechanical Designer/Technologist (St. Catharines)

Title: Mechanical Designer/Technologist Location: St. Catharines Pay: 80k to 100k per year Responsibilities: TES is currently looking for a Mechanical Designer/Technologist (3 months contract to Permanent) in Niagara region. - Prepare detailed design calculations and analysis of mechanical equipment for the Steel Industry. - Development of mechanical layouts using 2D- 3D CAD - Produce layout relevant deliverables such as design criteria, design drawings and reports. - Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, reports, and preliminary designs. Prepare detailed design calculations, conceptual layouts, and sketches. - Develop initial concepts into final designs, which would include preparing detail drawings, assemblies, bills of material, etc. - Work with vendors to review designs and selection of components. - Support Production to troubleshoot assembly and fabrication problems. Qualification: - Mechanical Engineering technologist preferred. - 5+ years' combined experience in the design of Steel Mill and/or heavy industrial machinery design. - Travel within North and South America is required. - Familiarity with fluid power and process systems principles, jigs, fixtures, piping is as asset. - Knowledge of the design, fabrication, and installation of heavy mechanical equipment. - Proficient in the use of 3D Cad design software (preferably SolidWorks). - Solid computer skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, FEA Analysis) - Strong communication skills, verbal and written. - Must demonstrate the ability to analyze problems and provide solutions using sound judgment and decision-making skills.
