Innovate weather technology as a WSP AWIPS Application Developer. Engage in Python and Java development to support critical weather forecasting operations in a cloud infrastructure.
WSP is looking for a technical professional to enhance our cloud-based AWIPS platform that supports various sectors. This position requires collaboration with meteorologists and a focus on data pipelines that improve forecast quality and operational performance. You will play a major role in developing solutions that are robust and maintainable.
Key Responsibilities:• Maintain AWIPS applications and plugins on the cloud • Develop tools with Python and Java for data processing • Manage data ingestion from GRIB and NetCDF formats • Troubleshoot and fix data-related issues • Work closely with meteorologists to design tailored solutions
Requirements:• Extensive experience in Python or Java programming • Familiarity with scientific data structures • Background in Linux systems • Prior engagement with AWIPS II preferred • Exposure to cloud technologies beneficial
