Position Summary We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent (Heavy Civil) to join our team in St. John’s, NL. Reporting to the Project Manager or designate, the Superintendent is responsible for overseeing all phases of heavy civil construction and maintenance projects. This role ensures projects are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and within budget while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance. Key Responsibilities - Plan, coordinate, and schedule labour, equipment, and materials to meet project requirements - Review drawings, designs, specifications, and contract documents in detail prior to and during construction - Supervise all field construction and maintenance activities to ensure compliance with design, budget, and schedule - Assign work to crews and oversee daily site operations - Supervise and coordinate subcontractors, suppliers, and equipment needs - Monitor quality standards of work, including subcontractor performance - Ensure efficient use of labour, materials, and equipment Administrative & Leadership Responsibilities - Review and approve timesheets for accuracy, job coding, labour, equipment, and materials - Participate in invoicing and identify extras to be invoiced - Assist with outstanding accounts receivable when required - Act as a liaison between owners, inspectors, subcontractors, and internal teams - Prepare written reports and project updates for management, clients, and project teams Qualifications - High School Diploma required; post-secondary training in a related field preferred or equivalent experience - Minimum 5 years’ experience in a supervisory role within heavy civil construction - Proven experience with: - Project controls - Material management - Contract and subcontract management - Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on schedule and within budget - Valid COR certification (preferred) - Valid and clean Driver’s License - Ability to pass background checks, including pre-employment drug screening Skills & Abilities - Strong leadership and people management skills - Ability to motivate and manage crews effectively - Excellent organizational, communication, and client relations skills - Strong ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications * Job Type: Full time Pay: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year Benefits: - Dental care - Extended health care Application question(s): - Civil Engineering Technology Education: - Secondary School (required) Experience: - Civil Construction: 5 years (required) - Supervising: 5 years (required) - Project controls : 5 years (required) - Materials management: 5 years (required) Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2nxwmn
