Human Resources Coordinator The Human Resources Coordinator plays a key role in supporting day-to-day HR and labor relations activities at the site. This position is responsible for coordinating essential functions such as payroll, employee training, and travel arrangements, while ensuring smooth and efficient operations.
Working closely with both management and staff, the HR Coordinator provides timely support and guidance on labor and human relations matters. This role contributes to overall business success by helping maintain a well-organized, compliant, and employee-focused work environment.
Responsibilities
Coordinate and support all labor relations and human resources activities at the site
Partner with the HR Manager to implement and maintain HR policies, programs, and procedures in compliance with company standards, legislation, and best practices
Oversee key HR coordination functions including payroll, training, and travel arrangements
Identify gaps in HR processes and collaborate with management to implement effective improvements
Work closely with business leaders to enhance performance, efficiency, and risk management
Support the development and communication of union-related strategies and processes to management
Foster positive and professional relationships between employees, management, and union representatives
Ensure HR and labor relations processes meet internal and external audit requirements
Promote a positive workplace culture that supports employee engagement, morale, and compliance with company policies and legal standards
Collaborate with HR and operations leadership to drive employee development, engagement, and retention initiatives
Maintain regular, documented interactions with employees to support engagement and communication
Assist in managing and documenting labor relations matters, including grievances, investigations, and workplace concerns
Stay informed on federal, provincial, and local employment laws and ensure ongoing compliance
Coordinate and review payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and addressing irregularities such as overtime or discrepancies
Partner with operations to monitor and document payroll-related variances
Support training and competency programs, ensuring completion and compliance across the workforce
Track and maintain employee training and certification records
Coordinate onboarding activities to ensure a smooth and compliant new hire experience
Support employee assistance programs, including return-to-work initiatives
Continuously develop professional knowledge through training, networking, and industry resources
Build strong relationships across the organization to provide guidance, coaching, and problem-solving support
Collaborate with leadership, cross-functional teams, and legal counsel as needed
Contribute to special projects and additional duties as assigned

Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, or a related field is preferred (or equivalent experience)
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in labor relations is an asset
Experience in the oil and gas industry, particularly with drilling contractors, is considered an advantage
Background in workplace investigations and conflict resolution is preferred
Proven ability to handle sensitive information with a high level of confidentiality, accuracy, and professionalism
Strong knowledge of federal, provincial, and local employment laws and regulations
Familiarity with unionized environments and applicable labor agreements
Ability to identify business challenges and develop effective HR-driven solutions
Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with strong overall computer skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with employees, management, unions, customers, and external partners
Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment, including outside regular business hours when required
Willingness and ability to travel to various company locations, including offshore sites
