Description
Location:
St. John’s, NF
Compensation:
$22– $25/ hour (full-time / permanent). (This posting reflects an existing vacancy)
Labourers at On Side are important team members who help rebuild and restore damaged personal and commercial property, anywhere and anytime disaster strikes. Labourers are the MVP of the restoration teams. Willing to learn, love being taught and full of ambition, the Labourer knows they’re going places in life and this is the first stop on the way to success!
Water damage in a home or business is one of the most stressful events our clients might ever experience. At On Side, Water Damage Technicians (WDTs) go wherever a burst pipe, blocked drain, sewer backup or other water-related disaster calls.
What you bring… Laborers bring a host of abilities to their work with a ‘get it done!’ attitude. Additional abilities required include:
Experience in demolition and emergency mitigation
Physically fit– water damage can, at times, include heavy lifting and getting into (and out of) tight places
Understanding and experience using hand and power tools
Mechanical aptitude– you can look at something and just know how it works
Tech savviness (capability to learn applications and computer programs as required)
Willingness to follow all company safety requirements including wearing full PPE as required: Full face masks require clean shave (if applicable)
Strong people, teamwork and communication skills
Attention to detail, ability to follow directions, reliable attendance and a safety mindset
Valid driver’s licence, clean drivers abstract and a clean criminal record (we do check)
Ability to communicate effectively in English, both written and verbal
Other skills that will help you be successful but aren’t mandatory:
Experience in construction, particularly demolition
WHMIS
First Aid
Of Note Disasters can strike at any time so a rotating schedule of 24/7 after hours on-call work is a requirement. Meaning you’ll work regular weekday hours and participate in a rotating after-hours on-call schedule.
What’s in it for you? We also love that we’re able to provide an employee assistance program, RRSP matching and a comprehensive health plan which includes extended medical (ex. chiropractic, massage, acupuncture, vision) dental, long-term disability (LTD) and life insurance. At On Side we work hardto embrace diversity and inclusion and encourage everyone to bring their authentic selves to work every day.
