Our facility on Blackmarsh Road hosts numerous community events, dinners, and social gatherings. We are seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Maintenance & Facilities Worker to keep our building clean, safe, and perfectly set up for our members and guests. Position Overview This part-time position focuses on a mix of facility cleaning, routine maintenance, and event coordination support. Working 16 hours a week with a schedule that ensures you have every second weekend completely off, you will play a vital role in keeping our branch running smoothly. Key Responsibilities - Event Setup & Breakdown: Moving, setting up, and packing away tables, chairs, and basic layout equipment to prepare our hall for meetings, dinners, and functions. - Facility Cleaning & Dusting: Keeping the interior of the branch immaculate. This includes detailed cleaning of public facilities, restrooms, common areas, and routine dusting of surfaces, memorabilia displays, and furniture. - Floor & Window Care: Sweeping, mopping, and maintaining the floors throughout the venue, as well as cleaning windows. - Light Maintenance & Repairs: Handling basic building fixes, with a specific focus on checking, changing, and repairing light fixtures and bulbs. - Seasonal Grounds Upkeep: During the winter months, keeping doorways and mainentrances clear of snow and ice to ensure safe access for members and guests. Qualifications & Requirements - Background Check: A clean Police Clearance / Conduct Certificate is required for employment. - Experience: Previous experience in janitorial work, basic facility maintenance, or event setup is a strong asset. - Physical Stamina: Ability to comfortably lift and move tables/chairs, shovel snow, stand for extended periods, and perform manual labor. - Reliability & Independence: Highly dependable with an excellent attendance record. Able to work efficiently from a checklist without constant supervision. - Schedule Flexibility: Able to work the required 16 hours weekly, including alternating weekends (working one weekend, then enjoying the next weekend off). - lnterpersonal Skills: A respectful, friendly, and community-minded attitude. A high level of respect for veterans and the Legion's mission is required.
