Controller (South Huron)

Our client is seeking an experienced Controller to lead the financial management function for their operations in Exeter, Ontario. This position is responsible for delivering accurate reporting, strengthening financial controls, and providing practical guidance that supports sound business decisions. The successful candidate will bring strong leadership, deep accounting expertise, and a solid background in managing finance within a manufacturing environment. This is an in office role. Responsibilities: • Direct daily accounting activities, oversee finance team performance, and ensure financial records are complete, accurate, and current. • Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements while coordinating month-end and year-end close activities, including intercompany accounting. • Establish, monitor, and enhance internal control practices to reduce exposure to risk and protect company resources. • Partner with leadership to develop budgets and forecasts, then analyze financial results against plans and explain key variances. • Evaluate existing accounting workflows, identify opportunities for greater efficiency, and implement process improvements that support the business. • Maintain compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax obligations, and regulatory requirements. • Provide coaching, guidance, and training to accounting staff to support capability development and consistent performance. • Deliver financial insight and recommendations to senior leadership to assist with planning, operational decisions, and overall business performance. Requirements: • Minimum of 7 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including leadership responsibility. • CPA designation required. • Demonstrated success in a senior finance role within a manufacturing setting. • Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and accounting best practices. • Proven ability to interpret financial information, identify trends, and recommend practical actions. • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to present financial information to both financial and non-financial audiences. • High level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail in all areas of work. • Proficiency with accounting software, reporting tools, and related business applications.
