Sales Agronomist, Retail Channel (Watford)
Description
Sales Agronomist, Retail Channel LaSalle Agri Inc. | Watford, Ontario | Full time | Office + Field Supporting Farmers Today, Protecting our Land for Tomorrow. About LaSalle Agri LaSalle Agri is a farmer-owned and operated Canadian fertilizer company. We partner with water resource recovery facilities with technologies from Veolia, Synagro, CAMBI, and NEFCO, to recover essential nutrients from their finished product and return them to the field as premium, CFIA-registered, non-synthetic fertilizer. Our Agro Series and Micro Series are the result. We are the largest end to end land applicator of fertilizer where biosolid is a source material. 15 years in the industry. CFIA registered. Proven on corn, soybean, and wheat operations across Ontario. We are now scaling our retail channel and our product line, and we are hiring the agronomist who will lead that build. The Role You own the retail and co-op channel for LaSalle Agri. You will inherit an existing book of retail partners and lead the build into a real channel across the province. You will also own the bagged fertilizer launch, including the path to big box retail. You report to the Sales Manager and have direct access to ownership. No five-layer chain of command between you and the decision that needs to get made. What you will do - Prospect, qualify, and onboard new retail and co-op partners across Ontario. Build the pipeline, run the conversations, structure the deals. - Manage the relationships with current and incoming retailers. Consistent follow-up, current CRM, every call logged. - Pull retailer orders from the partner portal and enter them into our internal CRM so our direct sales team does not approach farmers already served by retailers. - Train retailer sales teams on the Agro and Micro Series. Soil biology. Nutrient timing. Crop fit. How to position non-synthetic versus synthetic in a real conversation with a farmer. - Spend road days with retailer reps in their territories. Show up at retailer customer events, farm days, and demos. - Build the bagged fertilizer go-to-market. Identify retail partners, structure the deals, develop the path to big box. - Provide light agronomic support to product trials when needed. - Represent LaSalle Agri at farm shows, ag conferences, and industry events. What You Bring Required: - Bachelor's degree in Agronomy, Crop Science, Soil Science, or a related agricultural science, OR active CCA (Certified Crop Advisor) designation. - 3 to 5 years in ag retail sales, fertilizer sales, channel or dealer management, or commercial agronomy with customer-facing work. - Strong technical foundation in soil health, crop nutrition, and fertilizer application. Enough depth that retailer agronomists take you seriously. - Disciplined CRM habits. If it isn't logged, it didn't happen. - Communication and teaching ability. You can stand in front of a room of retailer reps and run a training session. - Valid Ontario driver's license. What gets us excited: - You've worked at an Ontario ag retailer or co-op (Nutrien, Sylvite, FS Partners, AGRIS, Clark, Munro, Thompsons, and similar). You know how retailers think, buy, and what makes them switch. - You already have relationships with Ontario ag retailers. - You've sold bagged consumer products or into big box retail. - You understand non-synthetic, biological, or recovered-nutrient fertilizer. What We Are Offering Compensation - Salary: $80,000 to $110,000, depending on experience. - Performance bonus up to 20% of base, tied to new retailer signups, retail channel volume, and big box milestones. - Annual CCA dues and continuing education paid in full. - $3,000 annual professional development budget for conferences, courses, or certifications. Vehicle and Tools - Company truck. - Fuel card. - Company cell phone. - Laptop and all the CRM, planning, and field tools you need. Benefits - 100% employer-paid health, dental, vision, and paramedical premiums for you and your family. Deductible split 80/20 - RRSP matching. - Casual dress. Why This Role Might Fit You - You will actually build something. The retail channel does not exist yet at scale. You are the person who builds it. The book to grow, the bagged product to launch, big box on the horizon. This is a role you can point to in five years and say “I built that.” - Direct line to leadership. No layers. You report to the Sales Manager and have regular access to the management. Ideas get heard. Decisions get made fast. - Sustainability that actually means something. We do not greenwash. We physically take nutrients out of waste streams and return them to the field. Our nutrient recovery partners are not small operations. - Farmer-owned, long-term thinking. We are not chasing quarterly earnings. We make decisions that work for the farmer over the season and the land over the decade. - Real product. Non-synthetic, no salt burn, organic matter included. CFIA registered, 15 years proven, and built on a recovery model nobody else in Canada is running at scale. Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2pav66
