Job Type:
Full Time Seasonal (April– November)
Job Description The role involves landscaping maintenance and management of the surroundings at Cabot properties. Candidates will range from entry level to seasoned professionals across four levels, with responsibilities scaling with experience.
Responsibilities General responsibilities across all levels include:
Follow oral and written directions in a timely and efficient manner
Maintain a continuous safe, clean, and productive work environment
Learn all landscape locations
Use appropriate PPE equipment as instructed
Complete pre‑shift staging of equipment and resources daily, as directed
Identify unsafe areas and activities and report hazards immediately
Operate gasoline, diesel, and electric utility maintenance equipment safely
Continuous debris and garbage collection throughout the golf resort
Implement world‑class presentation of daily course set up; ensure golf course conditions are achieved prior to first tee time each day
Report any adverse golf course/landscape conditions and all disciplinary issues to the Superintendent
Perform general turf maintenance (sod, weeding, etc.)
Use of light utility vehicles
Additional responsibilities by level:
Level 1
Pedestrian mowing both cylinder and rotary
Hand watering turf
Supported by coaching and tuition; progress into Level Two during season
Level 2
Large area mowing
General pest control (supervised)
Supported by tuition, training, and continuous coaching; progress into Level Three during season
Level 3
Hold a valid Nova Scotia driving licence
General pest control and hold a valid Nova Scotia Pesticide Applicators Certificate Class III (D) Landscape
Lead small teams/projects
Basic excavator operation
Move equipment with truck and landscape trailer
Esteemed role with minimal supervision; progression to advanced levels
Qualifications
Level 1: Looking for a team member with great attitude, passion, drive, and experience
Level 2: 1+ years in landscape role
Level 3: 3+ years in landscape role
Level 4: 5+ years in landscape role
Landscape Horticultural Red Seal Endorsement/Apprenticeship applicants encouraged
Consent to a criminal background check as a condition of employment and an additional check every two years
Job Requirements&Physical Demands
Seasonal schedule may involve day, evening, night, and weekend work
Long hours walking, sitting, standing, crouching while performing duties
Work outdoors and operate vehicles and equipment under varying environmental conditions (heat, cold, rain, snow, wind)
Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, up to 25 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, or move objects
Work with and around motorized equipment movement hazards, misdirected golf balls
Work with and around pesticides, fertilizers, and registered products; follow product labels safely
