About Our Opportunity If you are a problem solver, relationship builder, change agent, and service-oriented human resources professional who enjoys coaching, consulting, and supporting managers and employees within a complex unionized environment, then our Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) opportunity may be for you! We have a community of approximately 40 HRBPs reporting to one of nine HR Client Service Directors serving the diverse departments of the Nova Scotia Government. Our HRBPs are supported by experts in areas such as employee relations; classification; organizational development; recruitment; absence management; compensation; and equity, diversity, and inclusion to deliver programs and services to clients. Reporting to the HR Client Service Director, this strategic consulting role is part of a client account management team. It focuses on building strong client partnerships, working collaboratively and leveraging relationships with subject matter experts across the Public Service Commission while keeping a focus on the potential system-wide impacts and implications of all decisions. The HRBP provides coaching, advice, and support on a wide range of topics such as equity, diversity and inclusion; performance management; organizational structure; staffing issues; workforce planning; attendance and absence management; talent management; recruitment and selection; investigations; respectful workplace; issue resolution; conflict resolution; and policies, acts, legislation, and collective agreement interpretation. Qualifications and Experience This may be the right opportunity for you if you have the following knowledge and experience: Demonstrated success in client-focused human resources coaching and consulting, while building and sustaining relationships with a diverse client base. Post-secondary education in human resources and several years of progressive, practical experience as a Human Resources Business Partner/generalist or specialist. Proven experience within a complex unionized workplace and interpreting collective agreements and related legislation. Technical proficiency in software applications such as Microsoft Office and related business applications is required. The Government of Nova Scotia has adopted the LEADS Leadership Framework. Equivalency The equivalences considered would be a combination of several years of HR Generalist experience and additional related experience in specialized areas such as Talent Management/Recruitment, Employee Relations, Compensation & Benefits, and Workforce Planning.
