What You Will Do: As Manager, Regulatory & Government Relations, you will play an integral role within our team, reporting to the VP, Sales & External Relations. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to: Government Relations & Communications - Lead and actively deliver government relations and communications strategies & activities aligned with company priorities. - Build and maintain relationships with government, regulators, and industry stakeholders. - Monitor policy developments and provide practical guidance on impacts and opportunities. - Represent the company in external forums and support advocacy initiatives. - Develop and contribute to stakeholder communications, messaging, and supporting materials. - Work closely with internal teams to assess and respond to policy and public affairs matters. - Managing any external Government Relation consulting resources including planning, execution, and project management. Regulatory Affairs - Leads the company’s regulatory program and ensures compliance with Nova Scotia Energy Board requirements. - Oversees and contributes to the preparation of regulatory filings, including applications and submissions. - Coordinates a small team and internal resources to meet regulatory requirements and timelines. - Monitors regulatory changes and advises on implications for the business. - Prepare briefing materials, presentations, submissions and responses to all regulatory requests & consultations. What You Will Need to Succeed: This position has the following occupational requirements: - Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Political Science, Communications, Public Policy, Economics, Engineering); a graduate degree is an asset; - Minimum 8+ years of progressive experience in regulatory, government relations, public affairs, or communications roles; and - At least 5 years of leadership experience, ideally within the energy or utility sector. - Proven track record of influencing public policy and managing complex stakeholder relationships. To excel in this position, we recommend that candidates have the following skills and qualifications: - Experience in developing and delivering strategic communications materials. - Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills. - Strong quantitative and qualitative research and analytical skills. - Excellent written communication skills and experience developing external-facing communications. - High degree of political acumen, judgment and discretion. - Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks, energy policy, sustainability and ESG considerations. - Ability to work in a team setting with extensive collaboration and interaction with all levels of the organization. - Analytical mindset and excel at solving complex problems. - Detail orientated, with a keen eye for attention to detail and are highly organized.
