Operations Program Control Advisor (North Sydney), Sydney North Central

Position Overview

Marine Atlantic is seeking an Operations Program Control Advisor to support the Operations Department in North Sydney, NS. The term position ends on 30 September 2026. Salary ranges from $88,079.68 to $110,098.56 per annum. Key Responsibilities

Draft, implement, and maintain project controls policies and procedures for the office. Prepare reports on program budgets and spending profiles. Monitor project contingencies, review progress, and assess requirements. Analyze monthly financial statements against approved budgets and baseline figures.Consult with project teams to illustrate budget schedules, cash flow, percentage complete, and actual spend. Oversee operation program expenditures, including purchase order/requisition processes, and ensure invoices are reconciled and processed for payment in a timely manner. Monitor consultants and project contractors’ monthly spend and generate monthly accruals for finance.Maintain capital documentation for all operation program capital projects in adherence to corporate policy. Participate in the development of short‑term and long‑term capital plans for the Operations Department. Work with Labour Relations and Communication departments to develop business cases, communications, and project impact analyses on operational and staffing issues related to projects.Participate in the monthly review of the annual capital plan and report budget change requests to finance for review at the monthly capital committee meeting. Prepare the operation program monthly and year‑end accruals. Maintain the department’s overhead account and the quarterly allocation.Maintain the operations department’s risk register. Promote a physically and psychologically safe working environment that is diverse, accessible, inclusive, and equitable. Assist in the accomplishment of company objectives by performing other related duties as required. Qualifications

Bachelor of Business Administration or Bachelor of Business Communications Degree (Intermediate Level Accounting Theory) from a recognized educational institution. Minimum of five years’ experience in accounting analysis within a project environment. Or a combination of equivalent education, job‑related training, and work experience in a related position.Additional Qualifications

Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification or commitment to obtain a PMP certification within two years. Experience working with and/or administering contract administration software. Superior organizational skills, time‑management skills, and ability to prioritize and multitask. Strong attention to detail.Superior communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work independently and within a team setting. Proficient use of project management software as well as Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Asset Qualifications

Master’s in Business Administration. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or working toward your CPA designation. Experience with Canadian Construction Document Committee (CCDC) construction contracts. Benefits
