Senior Engineer, Geotechnical (London) Location: London, Ontario Posting Date: April 14, 2026 Job Overview We are seeking a highly‑motivated professional engineer to contribute to Ontario's highways by providing supervisory, technical, consulting and administrative services related to highway pavements, low‑complexity foundations and rockfall hazard management, and by supporting the programming, planning, design, construction and maintenance of highway facilities. Responsibilities Provide supervisory, technical, consulting and administrative services for highway pavements, low‑complexity foundations and rockfall hazard management. Support programming, planning, design, construction and maintenance of highway facilities. Mandatory Requirements Accreditation as a Skilled Engineer in a Canadian Province or Territory; must obtain a Professional Engineers of Ontario (PEO) license upon acceptance. Valid G licence or equivalent; proof of a valid driver's licence upon hire. Technical Knowledge Knowledge of civil engineering theory, principles and practices. Knowledge of geotechnical engineering related to pavement design and management. Knowledge of highway construction practices, highway planning and design, foundation design and highway maintenance. Experience in consultant acquisition and administration: preparing terms of reference, evaluating RFP/RFQ submissions, reviewing deliverables, providing advice to consultants and service providers, and preparing consultant performance appraisals. Analytical & Leadership Skills Demonstrated analytical and decision‑making skills for researching and analyzing complex problems and making timely decisions. Supervisory skills to plan, schedule, direct and monitor the activities of technical staff. Communication, Interpersonal & Negotiation Skills Ability to consult with engineers, contractors, public and government attorneys. Establish effective relationships with colleagues, associates, senior officials and service providers. Negotiate fees with consultants and contractors for retainer assignments and capital project work, and recommend payments. Prepare technical reports, business cases, briefing materials and memos.
