Description
Job Purpose The Packaging Supervisor ensures the safe and productive operation of filling and packaging activities, maintaining high product quality in a cGMP environment. Responsibilities Directly supervise approximately 40 packaging employees, adhering to production schedules. Provide leadership, coaching, and personnel development to achieve EHS, quality, and operational efficiency. Ensure compliance with cGMP guidelines, SOPs, and housekeeping standards. Participate in cost, continuous improvement, 5S, and cross‑functional projects. Maintain weekly/monthly packaging commitments and line cycle time standards. Review work orders and product documents, and involve line mechanics for scheduling and equipment reliability. Lead employee management activities: attendance, performance, safety audits, shift meetings, and scheduling. Perform payroll functions, Time & Attendance, hiring, coaching, and discipline. Ensure all SOPs are current and staff are trained in their use. Optimize labor utilization and productivity to meet departmental goals. Investigate in‑process, product, and equipment failures, identifying root causes and corrective actions. Report safety incidents and maintain training records. Maintain inventory of miscellaneous supplies and parts. Support cross‑training programs and capital requirement planning. Complete GMP documentation, CAPA investigations, and Change Control actions. Participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits. Qualifications Degree or college diploma in science or engineering technology. 5‑7 years of supervisory experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing. Excellent leadership, communication, and coaching skills. Strong cGMP background with packaging experience. Knowledge of 5S, WHMIS, and SAP/MES systems is an asset. Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Demonstrated skills in employee engagement, performance management, and safety enhancement. Good time‑management and organizational skills. Self‑motivated with a positive outlook.
