Description
Job Summary Accountable for the overall success of daily kitchen operations. Demonstrates culinary expertise by personally performing tasks while leading staff and managing all food-related functions. Continuously improves guest and employee satisfaction while maintaining the operating budget. Responsibilities - Supervise all kitchen areas to ensure consistent, high-quality product production. - Guide, develop, and mentor direct reports, ensuring adherence to sanitation and food safety standards. - Manage kitchen shift operations and ensure compliance with all Food & Beverage policies, standards, and procedures. - Estimate daily production needs on a weekly basis and communicate these needs to kitchen personnel. - Assist the Executive Chef with all kitchen operations and preparation. - Prepare and cook foods of all types for regular service and special events. - Develop new menu items, concepts, and decorative food displays. - Maintain purchasing, receiving, and food storage standards. - Ensure compliance with food handling, sanitation, and safety regulations. - Operate and maintain department equipment, reporting any malfunctions. - Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure standards are met. - Lead shift operations, personally preparing food items and meeting required specifications. - Use interpersonal and communication skills to lead, influence, and encourage staff. - Encourage mutual trust, respect, and cooperation among team members. - Serve as a role model and uphold property policies fairly and consistently. - Communicate performance expectations and provide constructive feedback. - Build and maintain open, collaborative relationships with employees. - Handle guest problems and complaints, ensuring excellent service. - Analyse information, evaluate results, and solve problems effectively. Qualifications - High‑school diploma or GED with at least 4 years of experience in culinary, food and beverage, or a related skilled area. - OR a 2‑year degree in Culinary Arts, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or a related field with at least 2 years of professional experience. Work Conditions Location: Delta Hotels Waterloo, 110 Erb Street West, Waterloo, ON, Canada (Full‑time, Located Remotely? No). Pay Range: $54,000–$72,000 annually + bonus eligibility.
