Road Maintenance Labourer (Hearst) (Ontario)

Day in the Life As a Road Maintenance Labourer, you will maintain provincial highway infrastructure by repairing potholes and guardrails, installing small signs, and removing debris. You will operate equipment such as loaders, backhoes, excavators, chainsaws, lawn tractors, hand and power tools, and pickup trucks. You will also respond to accidents and highway closures, assisting with traffic control set‑up and take‑down at work zones and incident scenes. Responsibilities Perform routine and emergency highway maintenance on provincial highways. Safely operate and maintain a variety of equipment and vehicles in accordance with contract and safety requirements. Complete accurate daily documentation. Respond to call‑in requirements during accidents and highway closures, assisting with traffic control set‑up and take‑down at work zones and incident scenes. Follow protected work procedures, wear required PPE, and report hazards, incidents, or equipment issues to supervision. Perform other labor duties as assigned. Qualifications Valid G licence with a clean abstract. Ability to lift 50 lbs. Willingness to travel during the workday and be on call. DZ/AZ licence considered an asset. Mechanical inclination considered an asset. Previous experience in construction or highway maintenance considered an asset. Basic computer proficiency considered an asset.
