Description
Maintenance Person – Travelodge Timmins Reporting to the General Manager, Maintenance will perform general maintenance work to ensure hotel maintenance quality standards are achieved and maintained and ensure the smooth and profitable running of the property. Responsibilities include but not limited to: · Assist with preventative maintenance and complete report work orders such as replacing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, patching vinyl, etc., to maintain the hotel and keep the product quality standard· Perform preventative maintenance assignments on a scheduled basis · Assist in checking electrical systems such as air conditioning controls, television sets, lighting systems, and make minor repairs and/or replacement· Assist in checking and making routine repairs and assist on major repairs of all hotel equipment including small appliances, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, boilers, pool equipment, HVAC, hand and power tools and general plumbing systems and fixtures such as pipe lines, toilets and sinks, kitchen and laundry equipment· Maintain the building exterior and “curb appeal” (e.g., snow removal, lawn care, painting, gardening)· Refurbish furniture and fixtures within guest rooms such as cabinets, tables, chairs, doors windows and counters. Paint and finish furniture and fixtures if needed· Respond in a courteous manner to all guest questions, complaints, and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction· Dispose of garbage in accordance with property policy· Carry out assigned duties as part of the Preventive Maintenance Schedule achieving standards required by property and company policy· Carry out maintenance duties allocated on a daily basis in accordance with departmental requirements contributing to the smooth running of departments and achieving guest satisfaction· Assist with the testing of fire alarms, emergency lighting etc. on a routine basis in line with property policy· Liaise closely with the General Manager and Management staff regarding completion of work to minimize on “down” rooms and contribute to the overall profitability of the property· Comply with attendance rules and be available to work on a regular basis· Perform any other job related duties as assigned The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications: 1 - 2 years of experience working as a maintenance employee within a large, multi-unit complex· Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers and guests· Self-starting personality with an even disposition· Must maintain a skilled appearance and manner at all times· Willing to “pitch-in” and help co- workers with their job duties and be a team player· Ability to recognize potential safety hazards and security problems in the hotel and act upon each accordingly· Skilled in several areas such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, dry walling, painting, plumbing, roofing, and landscaping· Must have the ability to: Climb, read, stand, walk and routinely lift 25 lbs to 50 lbs.· Must be able to troubleshoot and repair routine mechanical and electrical malfunctions in hotel systems and equipment· Must be willing and able to be responsive to complaints about maintenance Candidates are asked to include a resume and cover letter clearly indicating their qualifications and reason(s) for applying.
