We’ve opened a role in our Sudbury, Timmins or North Bay offices for a talented, entrepreneurial Senior Structural Engineer to work alongside exceptional people supporting JLR’s Mining & Mineral Processing Market. Qualifications Resourceful, dynamic, and driven Senior Structural Engineer with at least 10 years of experience in the design of underground and surface mining infrastructure projects. Natural leader with a personal vision, entrepreneurial spirit, and a big‑picture mindset. Interested in expanding knowledge with the implementation of new codes and practices while working with an experienced team to deliver projects using collaborative technologies and innovative design approaches. Willing to help clients develop, renew, and maintain critical infrastructure assets and facilitate growth in communities across Canada. Your Role as Senior Structural Engineer As the Senior Structural Engineer, your role will include: Leading and supporting intermediate and senior engineers in completion of underground and surface infrastructure projects in support of our mining & mineral processing market, from concept to completion. Leveraging innovative design solutions, including BIM, alternate project delivery models, and collaborative technologies to streamline the multidisciplinary consulting process. Conducting building and structural condition assessments, feasibility studies, and detailed design for various assets on mine and industrial sites such as headframes, conveyor galleries, equipment access/foundations and various underground and surface structures. Driving business growth by applying your industry expertise and leveraging your professional network to expand JLR’s client base. Completing complex seismic analysis and design of new and existing structures. Working and collaborating with an established, multidisciplinary, integrated technical team of architects, planners, engineers, and technologists. Participating in the development of competitive proposals to secure new assignments. Participating in continued education through formal technical training and collaborative presentations such as lunch and learns. Assisting with workload management to ensure project deadlines are met and final deliverables align with client expectations. Mentoring junior engineers and technologists. Acting as a Discipline Lead on multidisciplinary projects, taking leadership of the structural design team, driving the overall design, coordinating across all intersecting disciplines, taking responsibility for the budget and schedule of the structural deliverables, being responsible for the QA/QC processes, and stamping the final deliverables.
