Job Title: Project Accountant Salary Range: $60,000 – $90,000 annually We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant to support the full-cycle financial management of construction projects. In this role, you will work closely with Project Managers and operational teams to monitor project performance, manage budgets, and ensure accurate financial reporting. You will also contribute to monthly financial closes across the group of companies. This position is based out of our Northern Ontario office in Sudbury, Ontario. Key Responsibilities - Complete project set-up and close-out in accordance with established processes - Maintain and report on project budgets and cash flow forecasts - Conduct job cost analysis, identify variances, trends, and risks, and recommend solutions - Prepare job-specific billing packages Accounts Receivable & Payable - Perform full-cycle accounts receivable duties, including reconciliation and collections - Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and misapplied payments - Support accounts payable processes, including invoice entry, coding, and timely payment processing - Allocate costs to jobs and departments (e.g., utilities, fuel, etc.) - Allocate weekly labour costs to projects Month-End & Reporting - Assist with month-end close activities, including accruals, journal entries, and GL reconciliations - Analyze financial data and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual reports - Provide insights to Project Managers to support project decision-making - Participate in monthly project review meetings with Construction Managers - Act as a liaison between Finance and Operations teams - Ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and contractual obligations - Support year-end audit preparation and external audit requirements - Provide ad‑hoc financial analysis and reporting as needed Qualifications & Skills - Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration - Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience (construction industry experience preferred) - CPA designation (completed or in progress) is considered an asset - Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel - Strong understanding of accounting systems, budgeting, and internal controls - High attention to detail and accuracy - Solid analytical and problem‑solving skills - Ability to manage high‑volume workloads and meet deadlines - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Strong organizational and time‑management abilities - Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and sound judgment - Experience with account reconciliations (moderate to complex) - Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills - Ability to build relationships with internal teams and external partners Equal Opportunity Employer Barclay Constructors is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive and accessible workplace.
