Work site environment Confinedspaces Wet/damp Work setting Various locations High-rise building construction sites Responsibilities Tasks Load, unload and transport construction materials Read blueprints to determine work requirements Instruct apprentices Locate and mark positions for pipe connections, passage holes and fixtures in walls and floors Test pipes for leaks using air and water pressure gauges Cut opening in walls and floors to accommodate pipe and pipe fittings Join pipes using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement or soldering, brazing and welding equipment Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine layout of plumbing system, water supply network and waste and drainage systems Prepare tenders and quotations Determine piping system requirements and pipe sizing Measure, cut, thread and bend pipes to required shape and size Estimate costs and materials Experience and specialization Construction specialization Residential Architectural specialization Commercial Additional information Work conditions and physical capabilities Physically demanding Handling heavy loads Hand-eye co-ordination Large workload Bending, crouching, kneeling Personal suitabilityAccurate Client focus Team player Judgement Who can apply to this job?
