Description
About MapleSpark MapleSpark is building a next-generation adaptive learning platform. We pair solid educator-led content with a curriculum-aligned structure so students stay engaged with the material — not just the medium. We're launching at Canadian universities in July 2026 and rolling out into the broader Ontario high school market shortly after. About the role We're hiring a small group of math teachers to record our Grade 9–12 Ontario math video library this summer. This is a focused, paid contract project with a clear deliverable — ideal for a teacher between school years, in graduate studies, or supplementing teaching income. You will record short, single-concept explainer and worked-problem videos covering the Ontario Grade 9–12 math curriculum. Each video covers one teaching point — typically 3–8 minutes — and is built for student self-paced learning inside the MapleSpark platform. As a reference point, Grade 11 Functions alone is roughly 220 discrete teaching points. What you'll do - Record short explainer videos (one teaching point per video) aligned to the Ontario Grade 9–12 math curriculum - Walk through worked problems with clear, student-friendly reasoning - Work from a teaching-point list we provide — you don't need to design the curriculum - Hit a 4-week recording window before summer Format - Short-form videos: explainer + worked problem walkthrough, one concept per video - Self-shot at home, OR record at our Toronto office (we provide equipment) - We provide the teaching-point list, light style guide, and a sample reference video Required - Teaching experience in high school math — classroom, tutoring, or equivalent - Ideally a certified teacher who has returned to graduate studies (Master's or PhD) - Strong familiarity with the Ontario Grade 9–12 math curriculum — you can teach topics like rational functions or trigonometric identities without prep - Comfortable on camera — prior video experience is not required, but you must be at ease explaining concepts to a camera - Based in Canada (GTA preferred if you'd like to use our office; remote OK if self-shooting) - Available to record consistently across a 4-week window before summer Bonus - Familiarity with IB math (we're expanding into IB, AP, and US curricula after Ontario) - B.Ed, M.Ed, or graduate work at OISE, York, Queen's, Western, Brock, or equivalent - Tutoring background (Spirit of Math, Kumon, private tutoring, etc.) Not required - Prior video / YouTube experience - Editing skills — we handle post-production Compensation Flat project fee, paid per completed video on an agreed schedule. We'll align on volume and rate in the first conversation. This is contract work — you invoice us; we pay on net-15 terms. Process - Apply through LinkedIn (or email with a short note + CV/LinkedIn) - 15-minute intro call - Paid demo video — record one sample video from a teaching point we provide. If it works, you're in. If it doesn't, we part ways respectfully. - Start recording on an agreed schedule with weekly check-ins We respond to every application within 5 business days. To apply Click Apply on LinkedIn, or email with: - 1-paragraph note on your teaching background and why this interests you - CV or LinkedIn - Which curriculum(s) you're strongest in (Ontario Grade 9–12 specifics, IB, etc.) - A 1–2 sentence answer to: \"How would you explain the difference between a function and a relation to a Grade 11 student in 30 seconds?\" MapleSpark is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Apply on Kit Job: kitjob.ca/job/2ne226
