Product Design Engineer (Contract) (Toronto)

Summary The Product Designer will be responsible for the mechanical design of a wide range of LED-based lighting products used in various applications, including commercial and specialty environments. This role involves creating innovative lighting solutions, ensuring compliance with specifications, and providing technical support across departments. Fixed Term Contract: Please note that this is a 3-month fixed term role to cover a temporary leave of absence. Responsibilities - Perform mechanical design of new products from concept to launch. - Perform mechanical design of existing products for continuous improvement. - Follow through on designs to ensure proper testing/validation, implementation, and procurement. - Collaborate with others in engineering, operations, manufacturing and production to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet specifications and cost targets. - Perform hands-on testing and validation on new designs. - Assist in prototype building and development. - Plan and lead the mechanical design in accordance with product requirements. - Review and release mechanical drawings for fabrication - All other related duties as may be assigned Education - · Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent Experience - Mechanical design experience in a similar role - Familiarity with LED lighting design preferred Skills & Qualifications - · Proficiency in CAD software (Autocad, Solidworks) - · Strong problem solving skills, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team Vacancy Disclosure: This job is being posted to fill a temporarily vacant position due to leave of absence AI Disclosure: Artificial Intelligence may be used in the hiring process for this role Work Arrangement: This role is performed Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm in office at our facility located at 35 Oak Street in North York.
