About Honey Chinese Honey Chinese brings a bold new flavour to King West as the neighbourhood’s only Chinese restaurant. Our menu is a celebration of Chinatown classics, from Dim Sum, to Chow Mein to Peking Duck. The space is sophisticated, yet playful and harbours an electric, late-night energy. Job Summary Honey Chinese is looking for Server Assistants that possess a passion for excellent customer service. Server Assistants will perform customer service duties in a friendly and professional manner at all times and ensure that the customers have an enjoyable dining experience. Duties and Responsibilities - Assist with providing service to customers, including taking accurate orders and delivering food to guests. - Engage with customers in a friendly manner. - Assist with food preparation, when necessary. - Able to completely describe all dishes being served, making note of any dietary or allergy restrictions. - Ensure that all plates are plated and garnished properly; ensure all plates have proper serving utensils. - Confirm that guests have proper silverware and condiments. - Communicate with servers and managers regarding any guest requests. - Help to maintain the cleanliness and efficiency of the kitchen by following runners side duty sheets including, but not limited to cleaning and setting up of all expediting areas such as shelved, prep, surfaces, walls, floors, etc. - Stocking of all plates, glasses and utensils. - Any other duties as assigned. Skills/Requirements - Experience providing excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment. - Possession of SMART Serve. - Experience in a high-volume, high-end restaurant or cocktail bar environment is an asset. - A positive attitude and ability to work well under pressure with bussers, cooks and other staff. - Able to perform high-quality work while unsupervised. - Ability to work in a fast-paced work environment and deliver orders in a timely manner. - Thorough knowledge of wine, beer and spirits. - A passion for quality service. - Flexible schedule (open availability is required). - Strong communication skills. Physical Requirements: - Prolonged periods of standing and walking. - Must be able to lift, balance, and carry trays of food weighing up to 25 pounds.
