Childcare Custodian (Toronto)

Responsibilities - Maintain a clean and orderly childcare centre including classrooms, washrooms, kitchen, staff room and office(s) - Daily cleaning duties including vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, etc. - Heavy cleaning duties including cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and mirrors, removing garbage, etc. - Seasonal and routine maintenance activities including leaf pick-up, salting the sidewalk, cleaning removing snow or debris from the sidewalk, etc. - General maintenance of mechanical equipment and assisting with maintenance of kitchen equipment where needed - Complete maintenance and repair logs - Maintain awareness of potential health and safety hazards and notify management of any need for repairs - Build furniture (ex. shelves), toys, and classroom and playground equipment as requested - Steam clean chairs and carpets once a week - Complete inventory on a monthly basis, receive deliveries of cleaning supplies, and ensure deliveries are accurate (in comparison to purchase orders) - Support chef in washing dishes and putting away food deliveries - Follow all cleaning schedules as provided - Potentially may be required to attend and participate in Joint Health and Safety meetings (approximately every 3 months) - Perform other duties and responsibilities as required from time to time Specifications - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Organized and punctual - Robust collaboration skills and ability to act as a team player - Proactive in matters relating to workplace health and safety - Comfortable working with various cleaning materials (ex. bleach, sanitizers, etc.) and equipment (ex. vacuum, steam cleaner, leaf blower, etc.) Qualifications - Ability to lift up to 40 lbs - Health and Safety Certificate - Valid Standard (Infant/Child) First Aid and CPR Level C - Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference Check Our commitment to an inclusive and accessible workplace ensures that all individuals have the opportunity to thrive.
