About the Role
We are hiring a Head of HR & Admin, North America to lead our people and workplace function across Canada and the US. This is a senior, hands-on leadership role. You will lead NA people strategy, partner with the NA GM on business priorities, and execute the work end-to-end across talent, employee experience, compliance, and office operations.
We are looking for a senior HR leader with the judgment to operate at the Head level and the energy to roll up their sleeves and get into the details.
Key Responsibilities
Strategy, Culture & Performance (HRBP)
- As the most senior HR voice in NA, deeply understand company strategy and, through an HRBP lens, identify talent density gaps and proactively raise the talent bar in key roles and teams
- Partner closely with NA managers to cascade company strategy and organizational goals through the org, sustainably lifting the overall performance contribution of the NA team
- Land and operate the company's performance management framework in NA with appropriate local adaptation; coach managers through performance review calibration, performance conversations, and applying performance outcomes (e.g., to promotion, compensation, and development decisions)
- Handle employee relations matters, from day-to-day employee questions to sensitive cases (investigations, terminations, restructurings), with sound judgment on applicable employment laws and ethics
- Uphold the company's core cultural principles while respecting and integrating cross-cultural differences to foster a healthy local team environment
Talent Acquisition
- Run full-cycle recruitment for senior and core hires across Canada and the US: sourcing, interviewing, and closing
- Set hiring bar, interview governance, and employer-branding posture for the region
- Conduct ongoing NA talent market research and talent mapping to pre-position pipelines for critical roles
Compensation & Benefits, Compliance
- Drive localization and continuous improvement of NA compensation and benefits to enhance employee satisfaction
- Ensure onboarding, offboarding, internal transfers, and statutory benefits comply with Canadian (federal + provincial, incl. Ontario) and US (multi-state, incl. California) laws and regulations; partner with Internal Compliance and external immigration counsel on visa matters
- Continuously improve NA HR systems and processes (HRIS, payroll, benefits, onboarding/offboarding, etc.), keeping data clean and operations audit-ready
Admin
- Lead NA office leasing and day-to-day operations (Canada, the US, and potentially other locations), working both remotely and through on-site visits and travel as needed
- Own company asset management, including office equipment, supplies, and gift / swag procurement and distribution
- Organize virtual and in-person team activities to keep the NA team connected
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience (or equivalent depth), with meaningful exposure to both strategic HRBP work and hands-on HR operations
- Experience supporting fast-growing global or multinational teams, ideally in lean / high-ownership setups, with strong cross-cultural sensitivity
- Experience running senior recruitment in NA e-commerce, payments, AI, advertising, or similar markets
- Experience landing and running performance management at the regional level, including coaching managers through calibration, performance conversations, and applying performance outcomes
- Ability to advise and influence senior business leaders, paired with a genuine willingness to execute the work directly
- Sound judgment on employee relations and organizational changes
- Willingness to travel within North America as needed for office, hiring, or business needs
- Bilingual in English and Mandarin (required to operate as the bridge between NA and HQ)
- Bachelor's degree
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with Canadian and US employment practices (especially Ontario and California), with the ability to collaborate effectively with Legal counsel
- Experience designing or optimizing localized compensation and benefits or NA HR systems (HRIS, etc.)
- HR certification such as CHRL (HRPA), SHRM-SCP, or SPHR
- Prior experience at a Technology, SaaS, E-commerce, Payments, AI, or Advertising company
