We are seeking a Senior Layout Designer based out of our Toronto or Montreal Office. The main responsibilities of this role are building and managing all the discipline models that forms the complete 3D model for the Project / Plant. Produce conceptual and final design 3D models for different disciplines when needed, within the processing plant industry.
Drive connected BIM workflows on your project to improve collaboration between disciplines and utilize BIM users. This role reports to DRA's Design Office, Head of Department.
Responsibilities:
- Building and managing all the discipline models that forms the complete 3D model for the Project / Plant.
- Produce conceptual and final design 3D models for different disciplines when needed, within the processing plant industry.
- Drive connected BIM workflows on your project to improve collaboration between disciplines and utilize BIM users.
- Adhere to drawing office standards and procedures.
- General understanding of design codes and standards
- Strong understanding of Building Information Modelling (BIM)
- Experience and capability to apply 4D and 5D uses
- Experience working with scan data point cloud information
- Experience in producing rendered images using Navisworks or other similar software packages.
- Process plant 3D layout experience.
- Working knowledge of applicable software and workflows
- Drawing integration and interface with the overall design.
- Update, manage and modify 3D models to suit clients requirements.
- Interpret flow diagrams, design packs or conceptual designs and prepares models for the project.
- Awareness of maintainability of mechanical equipment and plate work.
- Awareness of access and flow that would be required through a plant to suit the client and engineers requirements.
- General knowledge of all disciplines required to pick up problems and propose possible solutions.
- Doing Clash Detection and reporting on clashes.
- Managing and hosting weekly reviews with engineering and client team.
- Managing vendor equipment information (2D and 3D)
- Checking detailer steelwork and plate work models against own design
- AutoCAD and Advance Steel modelling experience required
- Experience and capability to use Navisworks Manage with ease.
- Process plant experience needed.
- Ability to produce animation/fly through with Navisworks
Quality
- Ensure quality of models are of a high standard through the correct usage of software
- Produce and manage models accurately according to the client, drawing office and applicable standards and codes for the project.
- Follow specific drawing office quality assurance and procedures.
- Managing distribution of weekly review reports and clash detection reports to the project team. Follow up on actions taken on the items in the reports.
Requirements:
- Experience in a similar role within the multi-disciplinary EPCM environment
- Experience using BIM 360 would be advantageous

The compensation range for this role is $140,000 to $165,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
