Mechanical Engineering Leader – Toronto Join Arup’s Toronto office as a senior Mechanical Engineering Leader responsible for multidisciplinary projects in healthcare and science/lab facilities. The role blends leadership, technical excellence, and business development to deliver high‑quality, code‑compliant projects. Responsibilities - Lead complex, multidisciplinary projects as Project Manager and/or Engineer of Record. - Ensure quality, code compliance, and alignment with client expectations. - Monitor financial performance and manage project risks. - Support strategic growth in healthcare and lab sectors through strong client relationships and business development. - Contribute to winning work through proposals, pitches, and contract negotiations. - Mentor junior staff in mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design. - Guide professional development and promote technical excellence across the team. - Engage in industry forums to advance mechanical standards and sustainable design practices. Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Architectural Engineering. - Professional Engineering (PE) license required, or ability to obtain one within 6 months of joining. - Minimum 12 years of experience designing HVAC systems (airside and hydronic) with demonstrated leadership on mid‑to‑large building projects. - Extensive experience in healthcare and/or science/lab environments with deep knowledge of relevant codes and design nuances. - Strong communication and interpersonal skills essential for client engagement, team leadership, and cross‑disciplinary collaboration. - Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic, deadline‑driven environment. - Proven track record in business development, proposal strategy, and client relationship management. - Financial acumen in budgeting, achieving revenue targets, and implementing risk controls. - Proficiency in preparing and maintaining mechanical specifications with technical accuracy and alignment to industry standards. Compensation & Benefits Hiring Range (Toronto): $162,850 to $217,100 per year.
