JANITOR CS (Toronto)

Home: Westside LTC Location: Etobicoke, ON Hourly wage: starting at $22.93 Position: Janitor CS Status: Part time Schedule: Day shifts (6:30am-2:30pm) Southbridge Care Homes provides exceptional acquisition, management, and redevelopment services for long-term care homes and retirement communities across Ontario. Reports to: Environmental Service Manager The Janitor provides essential support to the residence by maintaining a clean and sanitary environment, ensuring that residents live in a safe, comfortable, and well-maintained space. Key Responsibilities: - Follow the home’s Preventive Maintenance Program as well as the Demand Maintenance Program - Regularly perform the various tasks described in the programs - Regularly checking completed maintenance logs in each department/home area of the home - Complete repairs as necessary including not limited to: Painting, wall repair, small leak, install (toilet, sink, tiling, doors, replace light fixtures, install blinds) - Check the operation of the mechanical equipment - Inspect Life Safety equipment and systems - Ensure safe storage of maintenance equipment - Complete regular maintenance reports - Complete pre-start up assessments on a new equipment as applicable - Coordinate annual preventive maintenance checks by contractors; and - Perform other duties as required - Must be available for call ins on short notice - Perform everything pertaining to maintenance including heavy duty related work Knowledge and Skills Required: - Must have mechanical aptitude and be able to read and write the English language. - Experience in electrical, plumbing, patchwork, painting preferred - Ability to work safely, following established safety practices and procedures. - Knowledgeable about WHMIS, OH & S - High School Diploma - College level trade certificate is an asset Additional Requirements include: - A negative vulnerable sector check completed within 6 months of start date. - Completion of a 2 Step TB Skin test within the last 12 months of start date.
