In the role of Civil Construction Inspector, Rail , we'll count on you to: - Provide inspection and construction supervision on Class 1 railway projects - Maintain accurate daily diary entries and completion of contract documentation records - Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document contract activities - Complete site surveys of completed works for tracking item and material quantities for payment - Complete daily inspections in accordance to client requirements and expectations - Monitoring construction work is in accordance to contract documents and specifications - Report to the Project Manager onsite activities, concerns, and non-conformances, and provide recommendations for resolution - Provide mentorship to junior staff - Liaise with client representatives, as required - Act as client site representative - Requires working nights, weekends, and extended shifts - Work may be seasonal in nature, as work permits - Other duties as assigned. The role of Civil Construction Inspector, Rail is a casual, temporary, as-needed position. There will not be a set schedule but will be notified when we have work available. Preferred Qualifications - Post-secondary degree/diploma in Civil Engineering and/or relevant experience - Minimum 5 years’ experience with engineering or construction - Previous experience working with Metrolinx, CN Rail, and CP Rail projects - Previous experience working on municipal or provincial transportation projects would be as assist, but not required - Be able to read and interpret construction design drawings - Ability to work in a team environment and independently in remote locations - Excellent communication skills - Emergency First Aid & CPR Certification considered an asset - Valid drivers (Class G) license with an acceptable driving record, and access to a reliable vehicle. Required Qualifications - Requires high school diploma or equivalent. (Candidates with 8 years of relevant construction inspection experience may substitute experience for a high school diploma) - A minimum of 3 years experience - Proficient with MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook) - Proven problem-solving and documentation abilities - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must What We Believe HDR is our company. The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
