Software Development Manager, Connections (Toronto)

As a Software Development Manager in Connections you will have technical ownership of the development of critical parts of the product. You''ll lead a talented team of engineers to create big data solutions focused on AI. Successful candidates will be strong leaders who can prioritize well, communicate clearly, and have a consistent track record of delivery. They also will deeply understand AI, how to build with it responsibly and scalably both across bid data and LLMs. You will drive architectural and design choices, invent new features, develop distributed services, and build a scalable, service-oriented platform for our people. A successful candidate will have an established background in developing customer-facing experiences along with solid technical ability and excellent project management skills. Key job responsibilities Lead an engineering team, TPMs that will build, operate and maintain software in order to meet business needs Build back end large data systems for AI Hire, coach, and mentor individuals Work closely with engineers to architect and develop the best technical design and approach Develop long-term development and business technology strategies Partner with Product to deliver the right thing for our customers BASIC QUALIFICATIONS - 3+ years of engineering team management experience - 7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience - 3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience - 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience - Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations - Experience partnering with product or program management teams PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Experience in communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy - Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
