Town of Tillsonburg is looking for an Inclusion Program Lead Hand who would be responsible for providing inclusion support to the Summer Camp program participants. Inclusion Program
Staff assists with development and implementation of recommended inclusion strategies for participants with exceptionalities and disabilities. The position works directly with camp program facilitators, fostering a welcoming and inclusive environment for all participants and offering support when required. In collaboration with camp staff, parents/guardians, and participants, the position works on ensuring inclusion standards are being met throughout the program duration.Department: Recreation, Culture and Parks Division: Recreation Programs and Services Reports To: Programs Supervisor Contract: June 1, 2026– September 4, 2026 Hourly Rate: $19.50 per hour Weekly Hours: up to 40 Vacancy: 1 Criminal Record Check required for this position. If over eighteen (18) years of age, a Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.Interested candidates should apply before the end of business day on Thursday, May 28, 2026. Responsible for
Develop, plan, organize, and modify specialty instructions to accommodate campers to ensure an inclusive camp experience Provide instructions to staff on how to handle situations and individuals with exceptionalities and disabilities Assist in development and implementation of inclusion strategiesAssist in staff training and provide guidance on inclusive and adaptive programming Provide modifications to camp programs to ensure campers with disabilities and exceptionalities can fully participate Lead and support campers with disabilities and exceptionalities, including one‑on‑one support when necessaryProvide parents/guardians with a detailed outline of the successes/concerns of the day’s events for the individuals they are supporting Mentor staff and volunteers to ensure inclusive programming is effectively implemented Provide updates on inclusion goals and program adherence When necessary, provide support for campers requiring assistive devicesQualifications
Two or more years of experience working with youth with disabilities/exceptionalities in a recreational setting High Five training in the Principles of Healthy Child Development; Principles in Action; Healthy Mind, Healthy Child Standard First Aid with CPR Level C Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skillsExcellent customer service, time‑management, and organizational skills Software experience with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new programs quickly Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships Working knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act Ability to swim and skate preferredCurrently enrolled or completed a program in Early Childhood Education, Therapeutic Recreation, Educational Support, or similar– considered an asset Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention or equivalent training considered an asset Vulnerable Sector Search required The Town of Tillsonburg is an equal opportunity employer.
