Position Overview Position Type: Permanent. As a Senior Group Underwriter, you will work within a team of skilled and energetic employees like yourself, collaborating with the Group Insurance Pricing team to ensure that Medavie Blue Cross achieves its financial objectives for group health, life, and disability insurance sectors. What We Offer Stimulating and friendly work environment rooted in Medavie’s core values: Caring, Accountable, Responsive, Innovative, and Community-minded Opportunities for all employees to take initiative, make suggestions, and think outside the box Diverse team of colleagues with experience in various fields Health and dental care plan that is 100% employer-paid from the first day Performance bonus program Culture that strongly supports employee learning and professional development Work‑life balance with flexible schedules and possibility of working from home Environment focused on employee well‑being, with health assessment tools and funding for sports and wellness-related activities Day‑to‑Day Responsibilities Establish pricing during the request‑for‑proposal process Establish renewal pricing Establish pricing for benefit modifications Draft financial agreements and prepare related financial reports Negotiate files with group insurance advisors When required, meet with market intermediaries or clients alongside the group insurance advisor to explain and negotiate files Participate in the ongoing training of junior and intermediate underwriters Provide technical support to other departments of the company Perform any other related tasks or general duties required by the role Ideal Candidate Post‑secondary degree in business administration, mathematics, actuarial science, statistics, or finance Minimum of 10 years of experience in group insurance pricing Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Word Excellent reasoning, judgment, and decision‑making abilities Robust analytical skills and attention to detail Excellent time‑management skills and ability to work in a constantly changing environment with multiple tasks and priorities Excellent negotiation skills and a passion for teamwork Compensation Salary Range: $91,831 to $101,014 (CAD). Base Pay may vary depending on the successful candidate or other relevant job‑related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and education/training. In addition to Base Pay, eligible employees may participate in various performance‑based incentive programs. Payments under these programs are discretionary and subject to both individual and organizational results.
