What You’ll Be Doing You will be joining a highly regarded Offensive Security & Preparedness team and build something incredible within Cyber Security. As a Preparedness specialist you will work closely with Offensive Security team members as well as partners in Cyber Threat Exposure Management, Cyber Security Operations, threat intelligence and many other lines of business to develop and deliver preparedness exercises from a variety of inputs. In collaboration with your team, you will plan, execute and recommend improvements to CIBC’s overall security and control environments for high risk applications and services. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1‑3 days per week on‑site, while other days will be remote. How You’ll Succeed Consulting – Your activities will be focused on improving and maturing the cyber preparedness exercises and cyber range program within the bank to better secure our business. Your ability to explain the importance and benefits of good security practices and consult with a wide variety of roles and lines of business across the bank will help accelerate our mandate to improve and mature our security posture. Coordination – You will be responsible for coordinating with the security assessment, response and intelligence teams to propose, plan and coordinate preparedness exercises. In this role you will own and manage the tabletop exercise function from beginning to end (exercise planning and delivery – recommendation generation – socialization with responsible teams – remediation handoff). Cyber Preparedness – You will be at the center of helping CIBC practice and improve its response to real world threats. By accelerating the time to improve capability/processes you will be driving significant advantages in the reduction of our attack surface and overall security maturity. In order to be successful you will need to interface and collaborate with internal and external teams so you can propose and consult on needed remediations. You will drive continuous improvement by engaging security teams from red teaming, incident response, threat hunting and many other lines of business with tabletop exercises and other assessment activities. Who You Are You can demonstrate experience in driving improvements and recommendation initiatives both within a security organization and across different lines of business. You have at least 2‑3 years of overall Cyber Security and controls experience. You bring 5 years of consulting and program experience within a security operation or analysis function, and an understanding of how to leverage it for enterprise defense. It’s an asset if you have familiarity with Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) activity, hold either a CISSP or CEH certification and have familiarity with Qualys EASM, Microsoft’s Security Exposure Management, and/or SafeBreach or similar BAS/CART tools. You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems, and providing truth and clarity in the face of the hypothetical. You’re confident in your ability to communicate technical and cyber security concepts in an impactful way. You act like an owner. You thrive when you’re empowered to take the lead, go above and beyond, and deliver effective programs. You embrace and champion change. You’ll continuously evolve your thinking and the way you work in order to deliver your best. You understand that success is in the details. You notice things that others don’t. Your critical thinking skills help to inform your decision making and are able to convey why those details matter. You look beyond the moment. You make decisions and take actions that will make a difference today and tomorrow. You proactively seek new opportunities to define what’s possible. Values matter to you.
