What You’ll Be Doing As a Senior Consultant on the Cryptographic Operations team, you will join CIBC’s Information Security department to play a critical role in shaping and evolving the enterprise-wide cryptographic strategy. This position focuses on ensuring the security and resilience of CIBC’s cryptographic operations, including Hardware Security Modules (HSMs), key management, x.509 certificates, Public Key Infrastructure (PKI), cryptographic standards, and preparing for the Post‑Quantum Cryptography (PQC) era. You will be responsible for leading cryptographic projects, acting as a liaison between technology and business teams, and providing strategic insights, KPIs, and KRIs to align services with enterprise goals and industry best practices. Core Responsibilities Cryptographic Expertise Manage development and maintenance of strategic roadmaps for Data Security, leveraging deep knowledge of cryptographic technologies. Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, develop business cases, lead projects and POCs, evaluate and implement new technologies such as PQC, and provide guidance on secure design, implementation, and operation of cryptographic services. Communication and Leadership: Build and present documentation to executive management and leadership, convey complex concepts and benefits, provide awareness and training to development teams, assess business needs against risks, and collaborate with diverse teams to drive alignment. Advisory and Relationship Management: Act as a trusted advisor influencing application, operational, and infrastructure teams, staying abreast of the threat landscape, maintaining relationships with peers and vendors, and integrating security controls into design and delivery. Analytical and Security Knowledge: Define and report on KPIs and KRIs, analyze complex security challenges, propose solutions, demonstrate understanding of security frameworks, governance, risk management, regulatory requirements, and advocate for best practices. Qualifications Senior‑level experience in cryptographic security concepts, implementation of encryption, key management, and cryptographic controls. Strong understanding of data governance, privacy, and regulatory requirements related to cryptography. Technical expertise in key and certificate management systems, protocols, and cryptographic hardware such as HSMs. Certified professional with current accreditation (CISSP, CISA, or CISM) in good standing. Degree or diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Excellent relationship building and stakeholder management skills, inspiring outcomes through expertise.
