Project Manager/Project Management/IT Project Manager (Toronto)

Job Title: IT Project Manager Payments Domain Location: Toronto, ON (3x onsite a week) Employment Type: Contract Pay Rate: CAD$50 - $55/HR INC The IT Project Manager Payments Domain will be responsible for leading end-to-end delivery of payments transformation initiatives across wire, real-time, and ACH payment platforms. The role requires strong project governance, stakeholder management, and domain expertise in banking payments. The candidate will oversee the complete project lifecycle including planning, execution, risk management, and reporting, ensuring delivery within scope, timeline, and budget. Key Responsibilities Project Delivery & • Governance Lead end-to-end project delivery across all phases (initiation, planning, execution, closure) Develop and manage project plans, schedules, financials, and scope Drive project execution aligned with PMO standards and governance frameworks Monitor KPIs, milestones, and quality of deliverables Stakeholder & • Client Management Act as the primary interface between business, technology, and vendor teams Provide regular status updates and executive-level reporting Manage stakeholder expectations and communication Financial & • Resource Management Manage project budgets, forecasts, and resource allocation Track financial performance and ensure cost optimization Coordinate with onsite and offshore teams for delivery Risk & • Issue Management Identify, assess, and mitigate risks and dependencies Drive issue resolution and manage escalations Maintain risk, issue, and change logs Quality & • Compliance Ensure adherence to regulatory and compliance requirements (AML/KYC) Support UAT readiness and ensure defect-free delivery prior to go-live Domain Requirements (Payments Expertise) Real-Time Payments (RTP / ISO 20022) Wire Transfers (SWIFT) ACH / EFT payments Cards and merchant payments End-to-end payments processing lifecycle (initiation clearing settlement) Cash management and corporate payments Preferred: Exposure to Payments Canada rails (RTR, Lynx) Technical & • Delivery Skills Agile / Scrum / SAFe delivery methodologies Knowledge of APIs, microservices, and integration patterns Experience managing cloud-based projects (Azure preferred) Familiarity with DevOps practices (CI/CD, release management) Tools: MS Project, JIRA, Planview, Confluence Experience & Qualifications 10 15+ years of overall IT experience 6 8+ years of experience as a Project Manager in the banking/payments domain Proven experience managing large programs ($5M $15M+) and global teams Strong exposure to Tier-1 banks Bachelor s degree in IT / Engineering Certifications (Preferred) PMP / PRINCE2 Certified Scrum Master / Secure ITIL Disclaimer: AI tools may assist in the recruitment process; however, all hiring decisions are made by the recruitment team based on a comprehensive evaluation of candidates.
