Jessie’s – The June Callwood Centre for Young Women is a multi‑service resource centre for pregnant young women, young parents, and their children, providing services that address social determinants of health within a feminist, pro‑choice framework. Responsibilities - Recruit and train young parents to share their experiences with diverse audiences. - Perform outreach to venues in the city to increase community awareness of teen pregnancy and parenting issues – including youth groups, schools, training institutions, policy and funding stakeholders, and media. - Respond to and coordinate requests for community speaking engagements in a timely manner. - Respond to and coordinate agency tours and office presentations in a timely manner. - Prepare and deliver effective presentations for virtual and in‑person audiences. - Evaluate and update presentations on a regular basis. - Support other agency staff in preparing and delivering presentations when necessary. - Prepare resource materials for distribution and information displays at community fairs. - Create and administer qualitative and quantitative evaluations for audience members. - Compile statistical information, documentation, and reporting. - Maintain a procedure manual for the Community Education Program. - Provide direct practical support and assistance to participants. - Stay current on matters related to sexual health, sexuality, teen pregnancy, and systemic barriers faced by young families. - Document case notes in the client database as necessary. - Act as agency liaison for various media requests. - Represent Jessie’s in supporting United Way Toronto York Region’s Speaker’s Bureau at campaign launches and other events. - Actively participate in the Outreach Committee, contributing to planning and initiatives. - Lead the design and coordination of Jessie’s quarterly newsletter, including content creation, layout, and distribution. - Attend selected community events as designated by the Centre to represent the organization. Agency Expectations - Support overall service delivery by responding to direct service needs (e.g., reception, Parent‑Child Centre, other duties as required). - Attend staff meetings, trainings, and agency functions as appropriate. - Participate in internal and external meetings; liaise with community organisations and networks. - Commit to serving on an internal staff or board committee. Qualifications - At least 2years of experience working with youth. - Post‑secondary education in social services or a related field. - Strong public‑speaking experience. - Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. - Ability to understand and apply principles of anti‑racism, anti‑oppression, and feminist frameworks. - Excellent interaction skills with participants, volunteers, community members, and agency personnel. - Advanced computer and administrative skills. - Excellent written and verbal presentation skills. - Strong organisational skills and demonstrated ability to time‑manage effectively and meet deadlines. - Knowledge of resources available to young families in the GTA. - Experience working with individuals facing poverty, housing, social assistance, discrimination, child welfare, health, and parenting challenges. - Flexibility to work some evenings and weekend days. - Current vulnerable‑sector check. Assets - Fluency in a second language. - Understanding of early childhood development. - Current first‑aid and CPR certification.
