The Business Development Specialist plays an integral role within the Markets Team, supporting the firm’s strategic business development objectives. Working under the direction of the Business Development Manager, Advocacy Group, the Specialist is responsible for supporting and executing targeted BD initiatives and projects, with a particular focus on independently managing BD efforts for the Advocacy Law Group. This role involves a mix of strategy execution, content development, research, reporting, and stakeholder coordination to support firm-wide and practice-specific growth objectives. Key Responsibilities: Main Responsibilities - Act as a key resource for the development and execution of business development strategies and programs across assigned practice and specialty groups, including planning, reporting, and execution of annual business plans. - Contribute to thought leadership initiatives, events, and client outreach programs aligned with the group’s priorities. - Follow-up on various BD initiatives ensuring deadlines are met. - Schedule meetings and material coordination. - Assist in the preparation of client-focused materials, including capability statements, targeted proposals, and RFP responses. - Prepare reports/dashboards with BD KPIs/results of marketing and BD initiatives. - Prepare briefing materials for lawyers ahead of client meetings, pitches, and events. - Follow-up on various BD initiatives and group activities ensuring deadlines are met. - Manage and maintain matter collection for the Advocacy group, supporting multiple outputs including directory submissions and business development collateral. - Ensure practice group meetings are scheduled and managing logistics for internal stakeholders. - Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support the development and enhancement of reporting tools and internal dashboards. - Assist with data analysis and reporting, including providing support for Finance-related reports and insights. - Support the preparation and coordination of quarterly reports for the Practice Group Chair, ensuring accuracy and timely delivery. - Assist in the development and execution of group programming and initiatives, contributing to efforts that enhance the Advocacy group’s internal and external profile. Content Development & Submissions - Draft and archive representative work (deals and cases) critical to positioning the firm effectively in new business pitches, RFPs, and other types of formal proposals at both national and regional levels. - Draft content for posting to the firm’s website as it relates to representative work (league table rankings) or for (internal) practice group communications. - Lead/support submissions to legal directories, rankings, and league tables for assigned portfolio (e.g., Chambers, Legal 500 etc.). - Coordinate French translations as needed in collaboration with the Translations team. - Coordinate and prepare the internal quarterly Podium newsletter and the bi-annual Advocacy Good News newsletter, ensuring timely content and Market news are highlighted. Collaboration and Internal Engagement - Act as a trusted BD resource for partners and lawyers, contributing strategic input and recommendations. - Work closely with the Markets team to produce effective collateral and campaigns. - Participate actively in BD planning meetings, sharing insights, and driving implementation. What You'll Bring: - Bachelor's or recognized technical college degree (marketing or business is an asset). - Minimum of 3-4 years of experience in marketing, business development, or related role. - Experience within a professional services firm is an asset. - Strong project management skills and ability to multitask. - Must be able to meet tight deadlines and work under pressure. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Positive attitude and enthusiasm. - Strong interpersonal skills. - The successful candidate should have excellent technical skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) including writing, business acumen and some project management skills. Compensation: We offer a market-leading total rewards package with the expected range of the annual salary to be between $69,845 - 87,306. The final salary is influenced by the location of the incumbent and may fluctuate based on the qualifications, skills, and market considerations, ensuring alignment with internal and external pay equity standards.
